Bad thing happen in threes....

They say that bad things happen in threes. I really hope that this is true right now. It has not been a good week for Mommy Knapp!

First, on Sunday, while watching the Giants beat the Pats and eating a bowl of ice cream, I cracked a tooth. On ice cream (and it wasn't chunky ice cream with nuts, just plain mint ice cream!). Since I am not in pain, and my gums are so swollen from the pregnancy, my dentist wants to wait to fix my tooth until after Baby Knapp makes his/her debut. So, as long as my tooth doesn't break any further (I'll have to steer clear of the ice cream!) or hurt, all should be ok.

Next, I've been having some coughing spells and difficulty catching my breath. I thought that a lot of this was attributed to my pregnancy, since the baby is pushing my lungs up. But since my cough has hung around for about two weeks and lots of people at school have been coming down with nasty things, I thought it best to see the doctor. Turns out, I have a mild case of bronchitis (did I mention that about five other teachers at school also have this?). The doctor said it's very mild, and that I can continue working. She did prescribe some meds for me that have already improved things. It's definitely a good thing that I took the advice and insistence of my husband and went to the doctor!

Finally, last night Jim and I had the scare of our lives. Right before leaving for our childbirth class, I found that I was spotting. I have not spotted at all throughout my pregnancy, so this obviously concerned both of us. I have to hand it to Jim-he was so cool and calm about things (while I was freaking out). We called the doctor, who said to go to labor and delivery if it continued. We decided to go to our childbirth class, since it was in the hospital. I had more spotting prior to class. We talked to the nurse teaching our class (who is wonderful-I hope she's on duty when Baby Knapp comes!). She insisted that we go to L & D and even walked us over there! At this point, I was really freaking out, and Jim was still cool as a cucumber (thank goodness!). The whole time this was happening, I was feeling very little movement, which also contributed to my anxiousness. Usually after dinner, the baby is doing acrobatics in my uterus! We got checked in, and they hooked me up to all sorts of monitors. Baby Knapp had a very strong heartbeat, and I was not having contractions. Baby Knapp was moving all around, and when Jim would talk to my belly, the baby's heartrate would go up! The nurses there were wonderful. However, they weren't able to give me a reason for the spotting. They said it could be any number of things. If I continue to have more symptoms, I will either be seeing my doctor or going back to the hospital. Please say a prayer that Baby Knapp stays put for a few more weeks. While we are all anxious to meet him/her, we want to wait at least four more weeks until I'm full term!

And now for some good news-JIM FINALLY FINISHED HIS DEGREE!!!! WOOHOO!!!!! I'm so proud of him, and we are both glad to be done with school (for now at least) so that we can focus on our family!
